RAISING THE STANDARD
Wednesday 7 October 2026 | Two years of BMPAN | Black History Month | Hosted by Lloyds Banking Group
Two years ago, we started with a simple belief: Black talent in the mortgage industry deserves to be seen, connected and championed.
On 7 October, more than 100 of you joined us at Lloyds Banking Group to mark our second anniversary, celebrate Black History Month
and launch the BMPAN Standard.
BMPAN OCT 2026
Leadership | Excellence | Community
A note from the co-founders
Being in that room and seeing the connections happening reminded us why we started BMPAN. Two years on, we are a community of more than 500 Mortgage professionals and allies and we are building something that supports people and creates opportunities.

From Strength to Strength
Recognition matters, because so much of the work that changes someone's career happens quietly: the introduction that opens a door, the encouragement that builds confidence, the person who champions your potential. Through the BMPAN Standard, we want to help more organisations turn their commitment to racial equity into practical action.
Thank you for raising the standard with us.

Celebrating Communities
Some of the most important work in our industry happens quietly: the introduction, the encouragement, the decision to champion someone's potential. We were proud to recognise people whose contributions are already raising the standard.
Co-founder Atlyn Forde was joined by JohnWinter, Vice Chair, Corporate & Institutional Banking at Lloyds Banking Group, to present the awards. What's NEXT: Raising the Standard, Together

BMPAN’s Mission and Vision
BMPAN’s mission is to build a thriving and supportive community for Black professionals in mortgages and financial services, and their allies. The network provides a safe space for networking, learning, career progression, and leadership development. BMPAN is working toward an ambitious yet achievable vision.

A Tribute to the Past
Our mission is rooted in the Pan-African movement. A movement that began in London in 1900 with Henry Sylvester Williams, a Trinidadian lawyer and activist, and one of the fathers of Pan-Africanism. The principles are simple and powerful:
- Unity — bringing people of African descent together against injustice.
- Solidarity — strengthening bonds across the diaspora.
- Empowerment — building cultural consciousness to drive change.
And that’s how we got the “PAN” in BMPAN.
BMPAN is designed for EVERYONE
Co-Founder Atlyn Forde - BMPAN is space where everyone is heard, seen and supported to achieve their best.
